Silver Championships Wrap Up

 

And Fly They Did…

 

The Flying Dolphins flew through an incredible weekend of swimming at the Metropolitan Swimming Silver Championships,        

Coach Emily is pleased to report that 17 members of the Junior group competed this weekend at Lehman College and finished with an outstanding 20 new qualifications for the upcoming Junior Olympic meet. Flying Dolphin Junior swimmer, MaryMcKenzieGrier, had a breakout performance qualifying for four Junior Olympic events (50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Free, and 100 Back).  Matching her teammate, Emily Weiss also qualified for four JO events this weekend with fast performances in the 50 Fly, 50 Back, 100 Back, and 100 Fly.  Inspired by his teammates, Ryan Green sped to the wall in time to qualify for his first individual event in the 100 Free. All around swimmers, Devon French (500 Free, 50 and 100 Breast) and Evan Lipton (500 Free, 50 and 100 Back) each qualified for three more JO cuts this weekend.  With these three swims, Evan and Devon are now eligible to swim each individual event at JO’s. In addition, Lexi Fried added two more races to her JO experience touching the wall with cuts for the 50 Back and 200 IM. Following suit, Juniors Maya Milrod (200 Free) and Lucy Elliott (100 Free and 100 IM) added new cuts to their resumes with their speedy swims.
 

 
 

 

Junior Group swimmers with personal bests this weekend include: Betsey Bennett, Isabella Cruz, Lucy Elliott, Alex Feigin, Lexi Fried, Mary Mckenzie Grier, Annie McDermott, Elena Messinger, Maya Milrod, Sarah Pinzon, Morgan Shepard, Kathryn Wang, Dylan Porges, and Emily Weiss.

 

 

 

 

 

Coach Amine is pleased to report a great weekend for the Senior group as well. Skye Barclay made a ZQ time in the 100 Back and completed the meet with five personal best times. Leta Giordano, had a breakout meet with four JO cuts and ZQ time in the 100 IM. Teammate, Alec Kahn swam to an impressive four JO cuts, 200 Free, 200 IM, 100 Fly, 400 IM. Catching the fast waves in the pool, Carly Fienblatt, Liana Monderer, Sappha O’Meara all swam 100% best times. Jessica Lipton had eight best times this weekend, and dropped over five seconds in the 200 Back. Natalie Brickman, had five best times and a three second improvement in her 100 Free. Emily Fennell, had seven best times and shaved off five seconds from her 200 Free. Amy Hosking, broke the 30 second barrier in the 50 Free, finishing in a time of 29.85. Senior teammate, Jessica Wiess splashed in with a ZQ time in the 100 Fly and finished the weekend with four personal best times. Sophie Siegal swept the 200 Free competition with a first place finish and went for four more best times.    

 

 

 

Congratulations to all the Flying Dolphins who competed this weekend, each leaving with personal best swims and high accomplishments for all their hard work this season.
