Flying Dolphins on Fire at the 2011 LC Senior Mets & 2011 LC Junior Olympics!!!

Senior Mets highlights:

 

Molly Brickmanwas the C Final Winner in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a lifetime best of 1:01.61; she was also a B finalist in the 200 Meter Back with a Super Sectional Qualifying time of 2:27.56, and C finalist in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a lifetime best of 28.85.

 

Sophie Siegel was a C finalist in the 200 Meter Back with a lifetime best of 2:30.02; she also had a personal best in the 100 Meter Back with a time of 1:11.48 and the 100 Meter Fly with a time of 1:11.73

 

Sophie Halper had 100% best times and 4 Zone team cuts; the 200 Meter Free with a time of 2:18.20, 100 Meter Free with a time of 1:03.30, 50 Meter Free with a time of 29.03, 100 Meter Fly 1:10.35, 400 Meter Free 4:54.60.

 

Sappha O’Meara and Jessica Weiss both swam the 200 Meter Breast; Sappha posted a 3:02.23, and Jessica swam 3:07.08

 

Junior Olympics highlights:  

 

Molly Brickman, Sophie Siegel, Sophie Halper and Sappha O’Meara captured the 200 Medley relay title during the first day of the Metro Junior Olympic championships, missing the 25 year old Meet Record by less than half a second. It was an outstanding performance by these amazing athletes. 

 

Individually, Molly Brickman dominated the 13-14 girl age group, capturing the high point trophy award with 162 points.

 

Molly was theJunior Olympic Champion in five individual events and one relay.  She swam to gold in the 100 Meter back with a lifetime best (1:09.49), 200 Meter back (2:27.73), 200 Meter IM (2:32.68) lifetime best, 100 Meter Fly (1:07.76) lifetime best, 400 Meter Freestyle (4:37.72) lifetime best and the 200 Meter Medley relay (2:13.52). Molly was also the silver medalist in the 200 Free with a lifetime best (2:11.92), and a bronze medalist in both the 100 Meter Free and the 400 Meter IM with a lifetime best (5:21.92).

 

Fourteen year-old Sophie Siegelalso had a breakthrough meet, teaming with Molly in the 100 meter back (1:09.80) and the 200 Meter back (2:32.17) to nab two Silver Medals and a 1-2 finish for the Flying Dolphins.  As mentioned above, Siegel captured the Junior Olympic Championship in the 13-14 200 Meter Medley relay with teammates Brickman, Sappha O’Meara and Sophie Halper. She also finished 11th in the 200 Meter Free with a lifetime best (2:18.84).  Sophie finished the Championships with an impressive 9th place in the high point race.

 

Thirteen year-old Sophie Halper was the Junior Olympic Championin the 200 Meter Medley relay, and the Bronze Medalist in the 50 Meter Freestyle. She also finished 4th in the 100 Meter Fly with a lifetime best (1:09.62), 7th in the 200 Free with a lifetime best (2:17.25) and 9th in the 400 Free with a lifetime best (4:50.04). Sophie finished the championships with an impressive 7th place in the high point category.

 

Sappha O’Meara (13) was the Junior Olympic Championin the 200 Meter Medley relay, and 11th in the 100 Meter breaststroke.

 

For the Junior team, Emily Weiss finished 9th in the 9-10 girls 50 Meter breast and 14th in the 9-10 girls 100 Meter breast.

 

Also participating in the meet were Leta Giordano (100 Meter breast and 100 Meter fly), Dylan Porges 50 Meter breast, 50 Meter fly (38.37 personal best), 100 Meter breast, 200 Meter IM, 50 Meter free, 100 Meter Fly, and Kathryn Wang 50 Meter breast, 50 Meter fly (42.24 personal best), 200 Meter free (2:59.05 personal best), 100 Meter Breast, 200 Meter IM (3:22.84 personal best), and 100 Meter fly (1:35.48 personal best).

 

The team will wrap up the Long Course season with Eastern Zones August 10-13, 2011 at Penn State University , Pennsylvania .
