Flippers Team Makes Waves at Metro 8&Under Championships
The Flying Dolphins Flippers team finished the season with a splash at the Metro 8 & Under Championships.
For the 6 & unders, Lily Siegel led the way placing 7th in the 50 backstroke, 8th in the 25 butterfly, 9th in the 25 backstroke, 12th in the 25 freestyle, and 16th in the 50 freestyle. Bailey Fried also made waves in the 6 & under events, placing 6th in the 25 backstroke, 9th in the 50 backstroke, and 13th in the 25 breaststroke. Adam Berg was 8th in the 25 backstroke and 12th in the 50 backstroke. Five year old Sophie Abelow also had a breakthrough meet with 100% best times and placed in the top 5 for five year olds in every event she swam.
Seven year old boys Gavin Green and Matthew Lipton made waves with big swims. Gavin racked up wins in the 25 breaststroke, 50 breaststroke, and 25 freestyle. He was also second in the 50 backstroke, second in the 100 freestyle, second in the 100 IM, and third in the 50 freestyle. Gavin placed second in the individual high point competition for 7 year old boys. Matthew was seventh in the 25 backstroke, 16th in the 50 backstroke, and 12th in the 50 butterfly.
For the seven year & under girls relays, the 100 freestyle relay of Jaden Sacks, Morgan McKibben, Siegel, and Alison Feinblatt placed 12th. The 200 freestyle relay of McKibben, Sacks, Siegel and Fried placed 9th. The 100 medley relay of Feinblatt, Isabella Bernatti, McKibben, and Sacks placed 12th. The 200 medley relay of Sacks, McKibben, Siegel, and Fried placed 10th.
For the eight year old girls relays, the 200 freestyle relay team of Elle Dorian, Kiana Guarino, Naomi Schatz, and Ginevra Venturi placed 13th. The 100 medley relay team of Venturi, Leila Epstein, Schatz, and Dani Levine was 15th.
For the eight & under boys, the 200 freestyle relay team of Eric Berg, Julien Marmur, Lipton, and Green was 9th and the 200 medley relay team of Adam Berg, Lipton, Green and Eric Berg was 11th.
Coach Laura and CJ would also like to recognize those who swam best time and/or completed an event legally for the first time; Caroline Carbonetti, Charlotte Carbonetti, Annie Brown, Naomi Yanos, and Francesca White.
