YFD Throwdown Thrilling Swims at Wilton Wahoos Meet
9 YFD Swimmers headed up to Connecticut for the 2012 Wilton Wahoos Invitational. The outdoor meet provided our athletes with a new experience and a fantastic opportunity to race new competition.
On the whole YFD swimmers were extremely impressive this weekend. They raced well, swam fast, and had a lot of fun representing their team in Connecticut .
Alec Kahn, Mary Mckenzie Grier, Emily Fennell, Blake Jamilkowski, and Keri Gawlik all earned second swims by qualifying for finals.
Alec Kahn earned a silver medal in the 100 breast with a lifetime best 1:26.22, bronze medal in the 50 breast 39.65 and won the final B in the 200 IM with another lifetime best 2:48.43. He also finished third in the B final of the 100 Fly with a personal best 1:18.60
Mary Mckenzie Grier earned a silver medal in the 50 back with a lifetime best 37.13, She also finished second in the B final of the 50 Fly with another lifetime best of 33.52 and swam to an impressive 1:10.42 in the 100 Free finishing second in the B Final
Emily Fennell earned a second swim in Final A in her signature event (200 Meter Fly ) with a time of 3:06.12, then improved her time by over 8 seconds in the final race and finished 5th over all. She also swam a lifetime best in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:20.09
Keri Gawlik did an awesome job stepping up and racing all her events on Saturday. She took home a Silver medal in the 15&Over 100 Fly with a season best time of 1:11.08 and then swam an impressive 200 IM with another season best time of 2:37.26 improving her time from the last meet by over 2 seconds.
Blake Jamilkowski also had a great meet earning three finals. He swam to a lifetime best in the 50 Fly finishing 5th over all. Another lifetime best in the 100 Free with a time of 1:10.22 finishing 11th over all. Blake also improved his 100 Breast by over a second with a time of 1:34.76 finishing 6th over all.
Devon French swam to a lifetime best in the 50 Fly with a time of 37.28 finishing 16th over all. He also swam the 50 back 42.68 finishing 18th and 100 Free with a time 1:17.68
Sarah Pinzon had a wonderful 100 back with a lifetime best and dropping over 8 seconds 1:26.66. she also improved her 200 Free by over 9 seconds with a time of 2:42.92. Sarah swam to a 44.68 in her 50 breast finishing 16th over all.
In the 9-10 girls age group. We were represented by Emily Weiss and Maya Milrod who both earned gold in multiple events.
Emily weiss made her forth Metro All Star Zone Team Cut in the 50 back with a speedy time of 36.73. She won both her breaststroke events and finished third in the 200 IM dropping over 7 seconds with a time of 3:04.91.
Maya Milrod added to the excitement by making two Metro All Star Zone Team Cuts. 50 Fly with a time of 36.79 finishing second over all, and the 100 Fly with a another speedy time of 1:24.22 earning first over all. Maya also earned a second place over all in the 100 Free with a lifetime best of 1:17.43
