Weiss, Kahn & Lipton Represent at the 2012 All-Star Eastern Zone Championships
Three swimmers from the 92nd Street Y Flying Dolphins qualified to represent Metropolitan Swimming (Metro) at the All-Star Eastern Zone Long Course Swimming Championships last weekend.
Leading the way Emily Weiss (10) the busiest Flying Dolphins in the meet who qualified to represent Metro in a total of 7 events; 50 breast, 100 breast, 50 back, 100 back, 50 fly, 100 fly and 200 IM. Emily finished 9th over all in the 100 Breast with a lifetime best time of 1:30.07, 11th in the 50 Breast, lifetime best 41.25, and she swam to another lifetime best time in the 100 Back 1:22.10. Emily also improved her ranking in Metro Top-10 finishing the 2012 Long Course Season in 4th in 50 back, 10th in 100 back, 4th in 50 breast, 5th in 100 breast and 9th in 200 IM.
Jessica Lipton (14) qualified for the team in her signature events; 200 Meter Fly, and the 1500 Meter Freestyle. She did a great job stepping up and racing both her events. She finished 21st in the 1500 Free and 25th in the 200 Fly respectively.
Alec Kahn (12) earned a spot on the Metro team in his baby event; the 200 Meter Breaststroke. Alec had a great race and was just three tenths of a second off of his best time.
Over all, Metropolitan Swimming finished fifth, behind New England, Virgina, PVS, and Maryland respectively.
