YFD Fly Past Columbia Grammar
This past Tuesday, sixteen Flying Dolphins ventured to the West Side to take part in a duel meet against Columbia Grammar. It was an unfamiliar pool and format of the meet for many, but the Flying Dolphins still kept their focus and enthusiasm to bring an impressive victory of 100-68 back east. For the first half of the meet Flying Dolphins were ahead of their opponents, but only by a few points. Following the breaststroke and butterfly events the Flying Dolphins kept a strong line up and created a clear path for their victory. Columbia Grammar strongly outnumbered the Flying Dolphins, but this meant that every team member helped score points for 92Y.
Gavin Green took first place in every heat he raced. His sister, Ella Green, was not far behind also scoring all first place finishes for the 9 and over side. A couple of new racers stepped up on the block this week. Big help in the relays came from Isabella Sparrow for the 8 and under, and Hannah Yeh for 9 and over. Freestyle races launched a great start for the team. Awesome finishes were made by Adele Auchincloss and Anya Armstrong. Some strong swims in the butterfly were by Charlie Poses and Paul Genix. Great depth in the points was contributed by Tess Radford, Morgan McKibben and Naomi Schatz. All of the meet participants swam some strong races, including some of our very own Dolphins who were racing on Columbia Grammar side for this meet. Keep up the great swimming!
