Abby Damsky signs with Brandeis University

Congratulations to YFD Senior swimmer Abby Damsky at the signing with Brandeis University.

Abby chose Brandeis early decision because it combines the faculty and resources of a research institution with the intimacy and personal attention of a small liberal arts college. Brandeis gives its students many opportunities, inside and outside the classroom, while allowing its students to have close relationships with professors. The entire school has about 3,500 students, allowing for a very tight-knit community. Also, it is only 9 miles away from Boston, which is great because I will be near a city.

Brandeis has a division III swim team, which is great for me. The team is fast and very dedicated to the sport but the swimmers also have time to pursue their other interests. The coach, Mike Kotch, builds his team not only on swimmers times but on their character. His swimmers are motivated, hardworking, supportive and kind. Coach Kotch believes in a student-athlete: a student should excel in the pool and the classroom. When I visited Brandeis the swim team was extremely welcoming; they made me feel like I was part of the team even before I had applied to the school.

We wish you the best Abby! Go Brandeis…
