YFD Represented at NASA Junior Nationals & All-Star Eastern zone Champs

YFD competed in two prestigious championship meets this past weekend. Sophie Halper traveled to Clearwater,  Florida   for the 2014 NASA Junior Nationals and sisters Jessica and Emily Weiss traveled to  Rochester   for the 2014 All-Star Easter zone championships.

The NASA Junior Nationals featured  USA   National team member Samone Manuel and several Junior National team members as well. It was an incredibly fast meet! Despite the stacked field, Sophie Halper managed to place in two finals: 500 Free with a final time of 5:03.34 and the 200 Fly setting a new team record and improving her lifetime best by over 3 seconds with a time of 2:09.71.

The meet was great and we all had so much fun watching the 17-year old Samone Manuel break the 100 Freestyle AMERICAN RECORD twice in the same meet swimming a blazing 46.83 in prelims and lowering that time to 46.75 in finals. The previous record was held by the 12-time Olympic Medalist Natalie Coughlin.

In Rochester, we were also well represented by Jessica and Emily who both scored points for the METROPOLITAN ZONE TEAM that took first place over all at the 2014 Easter Zone All-Star Age Group Championships!

Jessica Weiss finished finals with an impressive 4th  place overall in the 400 IM with a time of 4:43.16, not to be outdone her sister Emily Weiss placed in two finals and lowered her own team record in the 100 IM splashing a speedy 1:02.84.

Congratulations to these swimmers on their hard work and great results!
