Coach Andre began swimming at the age of 10, where he was recruited to join a local swim team in Chisinau, then-USSR. He was selected and attended a specialized all-sports boarding school for talented athletes groomed for future Olympic-level competitions for 5 years before transferring to a regular high school.
His passion for swimming was renewed after joining the Andover YMCA, where he competed on the Y's Masters swim team for several years. Coaching now is his way to share with young athletes his knowledge of and passion for the sport. He is particularly interested in helping swimmers improve mechanics and stroke technique as the way to not only enhance their competitive results but also to discover the joy and beauty of swimming.
Coach Andre has a two-decade-long career in education, at the high school and college level, both as a teacher and administrator. Currently, he works in enrollment services at Northeastern University.
Coach Andre will be working with Age Group Elite, High School 1, Pre-Nat/Nats, Typhoon 1&2 and Tornado 1 groups.
