BECOME A USA SWIMMING OFFICIAL

Parents, we would love for you to be part of Swim Omaha's officiating team!

USA Swimming rules require a Meet Referee, Starter, Administration, and at least two Stroke & Turn officials to sanction a swim meet. If a meet isn’t sanctioned, our swimmers’ times will not be officially recognized and can’t be used for future entries.

You do not need to know anything about swimming. This isn’t only for parents who were swimmers themselves. The training will provide you with everything you need to know. You will start out as a Stroke & Turn official and have plenty of opportunities to move into Starter, Ref, and Admin roles. You will learn the rules for each stroke, relay exchanges, and the ins and outs of how meets are run. And finally, you, too, will understand the mysteries of a DQ slip.

Because of our team size, Swim Omaha is trying to build a team of about 16 officials. We’d love to have two Refs, two Starters, two Admin, and 10 Stroke and Turn officials.
