Meet Coach Karrie Honecker, the heart and soul of PVA. Karrie was a part of the group that founded PVA in 2012. She has been the head coach and director of the club since that time, coaching all age groups over the years and bringing her thoughtful, caring and skilled coaching to hundreds of PVA swimmers. When she’s not on deck coaching, she’s the lead teacher in the Williamstown Elementary School’s full-day pre-k program, and mom to two Piranhas, Sam, age 12 and Calvin, age 9. Her husband, Scott, the head wrestling coach for Williams College, can often be spotted on deck offering high fives and hyping up the team. The Honecker family is the linchpin of this team! Coach Karrie was captain of the undefeated women’s swim team at Ithaca College in 2003. Following her move to North Carolina, Karrie became the Head Developmental Coach for the Greenville Swim Club. During her 4 years with GSC, the club boasted multiple Junior Olympic Champions, and most recently 2012 London Olympic Gold medalist Lauren Perdue. As a coach, Honecker not only increased the strength of the club’s schedule, but also encouraged year-round participation of all members. Karrie was also the Head Coach for the Windsor Waves; a Greenville Aquatics Summer Swim League team. She led them to their first undefeated season during the summer of 2011. After moving to Williamstown in the fall of 2011, she became a volunteer assistant coach for the Williams College Swim Team, as well as the Head Coach for the Williams Masters Swimming Group. Karrie brings not only her experience in coaching but also her passion and love for the sport of swimming to PVA.
