Senior I

The Senior I group is second highest level group within the Northwest Arkansas Aquatics program. Swimmers in this group are striving to be as competitive as possible at the LSC level and striving to qualify and compete at the regional and national level. For those swimmers that want to continue their swimming careers at the collegiate level, the Senior I group will prepare them for that.

The focus of the Senior I group is to challenge these swimmers to be the best that they can be in and out of the pool on a daily basis. They will learn skills (time management, commitment, ownership, etc) that they will be able to apply to their swimming at this current time as well as in college and in life.

Swimmers in the Senior I group will be introduced to using equipment during dryland (medicine balls, dumbbells, pull-up bars, bands, etc). This will help them build strength in the water and develop speed and power on starts and turns. The in-water training will be designed to help these swimmers perform as well as they can in the given season as well as continue to develop in their careers.

Swimmers in the Senior I group will range in ages of 14-18 and it is preferred that swimmers will be entering their freshman year of HS and older; however, there may be some swimmers that are prepared and the workload is developmentally appropriate for them. In such cases, coaches discretion may warrant a move-up prior to this ideal age range.

Move-ups will be communicated prior to the start of the short course or long course seasons; however, there may be some cases where a move mid-season is determined to be necessary by the coaching staff.
