Red Deer Marlins Swim Club

The Marlins Swim Club is a member of the Alberta Summer Swim Association (ASSA). The club trains from May 1st to mid-August. Our swimmers are coached in stroke improvement, endurance, meet procedure, and are encouraged to participate in swim meets.

Marlins History and Approach to Swimming

Established in 1972 by Art Melom and Nancy Langevan, the Red Deer Marlins Swim Club has deep roots in the community. Since that time, membership has ranged from 15 to 100 swimmers, but the club's philosophy has remained consistent: "To foster strong sportsmanship and team spirit through the development of excellent swimming technique". Swimmers of all ages and abilities will find something too love in this club. For many, the Marlins become a family - we have swimmers who become coaches or become parents of new generations of Marlins!

Summer Swimming

Red Deer offers many different swim options for kids including Red Cross swim lessons, year-round competitive swimming and summer swim club. As Red Deer's only summer swim club, Marlins is a great, fun way to develop your swim skills, compete against other Central Alberta swimmers, and develop lifelong friendships!

Swimming is perhaps the single best sport you can teach a kid! Not only is it super fun and a great skill to learn but is also something fun to do in the summer months.
