Our 2025 Coaches
Claire Halford - 2025 Head Coach: I'm thrilled to be back for another exciting season with the Marlins! My journey with this incredible team began when I was just seven years old, and now, entering my tenth year as a coach, I couldn't be more excited. Over the years, I've had the privilege of coaching various age groups, and this season, I'm particularly excited to work with both the seniors and intermediates.
Recently, I completed my undergraduate degree at McMaster University, where I studied Human Behaviour. Alongside my academic pursuits, I also wrapped up my competitive swimming career. Swimming has been my passion for the majority of my life, and I'm incredibly eager to share that passion with the next generation of swimmers.
As we gear up for the season ahead, I'm looking forward to fostering a supportive and dynamic environment where our athletes can thrive both in and out of the pool. Whether it's refining technique, building endurance, or instilling a love for the sport, I'm committed to helping each swimmer reach their full potential.
See you all in May, ready to dive in and make some waves!
Owen Halford - 2025 Seniors and Juniors: Hello! I'm Owen Halford, and I'll be coaching senior and junior swimmers this season, also helping out where needed. I've been swimming since age 5, starting with the Marlins precomp group before swimming year-round with Red Deer Catalina and the Olympian Swim Club. The Marlins hold a special place in my heart, as my mom and her siblings also swam with them in the 80s. Currently, I'm in my third year at McMaster University studying Chemical/Integrated Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences. I'm also a varsity swimmer for the McMaster Marauders. Throughout my swimming career, I've achieved milestones such as being an ASSA All-star and provincial record holder, being a nationals A finalist and competing at world trials. I've been honored with awards like the Joy Anderson Memorial Award with the Marlins and the Art Mellom Memorial Award with Catalina. I'm excited to share my passion for swimming and provide a supportive environment for the next generation of swimmers. Looking forward to seeing them improve and have fun in the pool this season!

Hello! My name is Sara Molly and I’m really excited to be Coaching this season. I graduated grade 12 in January at Lindsay Thurber high school this year. This is my first year coaching with the Marlins and I will be coaching one of the development groups. I really enjoy being at the pool and I lifeguard and teach swim lessons when I’m not coaching. I have been swimming for 7 years, since I was 9 years old and I swam my last year with the marlins. My favourite part about swimming is swim meets and meeting and helping all of the kids.
