Gold Medal Swimmers Perform Well at Holiday Fest and Senior Challenger Prelims
Gold Medal Swim Club swimmers competed in two meets the first weekend of December. Members of the Senior Group competed at the MAC Senior Challenger and members of most groups competed at the Neptune Holiday Festival. The team continued with some amazing results. There were so many best times and top performances at both meets, they can't all receive mention here.
At the Holiday Fest, Cohen Gunsalas was a top male performer with 16 best time swims between his prelim and finals swims. He also broke a minute for 100 fly with a 59.86. Dylan Rhodes was a top female performer with 11 best time swims. Her IM swims were impressive with a 2.19.77 and 4.58..57 in the 200 and 400 IM respectively. Other top performers were Ellie Kayser with nine best time swims and an impressive 18:54.56 in the 1650, 5:31.23 in the 500 and 2:04.68 in the 200. Tori Nguyen had 10 best time swims, and Joe Luken and Adia Peterson had eight best time swims, and Lawerence Wen and Aiden Cruz had seven.
At the Senior Meet Prelims at Mesa, Abby Raclaw was top female perfomer with six best times and big improvement in all her longer events. the top male performer was Finn Crawford with four best times and a sectional cut in the 200 free. He had major improvments in almost all of his events. Clare Luken swam to a sectional cut in the 1000 free and Dylan George and Reed Lucero recorded four best times and Clare recorded three best times. A majority of the group recorded at least one best time and 17 swimmers qualified for the finals.
