Pre-Senior Meet Review:

The pre-seniors swam at the Rio meet and the Mesa meet this past weekend. Except for four swimmers, they all swim mostly two events as they had swum more the previous weekend.

At the Rio meet Jason Sugihara had five best times and broke four Arizona State 11-12 boys age group records. He now has State records in the following events: 50 fly, 50 breast, 50 back, 100 breast, 400 IM, 100 fly, 100 IM, and 200 free. Reagan Uhlik also had four best times with an impressive 5:01 in the 400IM. She also swam a great 200 free along with Paige Downey, Ava Lucero, Dylan Rhodes, Ava Peterson, who all did best times in the event. Sara Spresney swam two best times as did Addison Henry. Ellie Kayser, Ava Lucero, and Paige Downey all broke a minute in the 100 freestyle for the first time.

At the Mesa meet Lawrence Wen achieved his first 13-14 State times in the 100 free with a 54.72 and the 400 IM with a 4:56.55. Amberly You recorded two best times as did Alex George and Joe Luken. Molly Hendricks achieved three best times with a 10 second improvment in the 400 IM and seven seconds in the 200 IM.

Senior Meet Review:

The SAC meet was a continuation of the MAC meet the previous week, and there many improvments over the previous weeks efforts. Leading the way was Finn Crawford with five best times and three new Sectional cuts in the 500 free, 200 fly and the 1650. Colin Campbell picked up a new Sectional cut in the 1650 and Reed Lucero broke a minute in the 100 breast for the first time. Clare Luken added a sectional cut in the 500 free as did Ryne Davenport in the 200 back. Jack Luken achieved a Futures cut in the 1650 and Max Nielsen missed the 100 back cut by .5. Reed had five best time and Clare had four to lead the way in that category. Over the two weekends, Kendall Alexander dropped her 200 breast time six seconds. Almost all the swimmers had at least one best time and went faster than the previous week's qualifying meet, which is an impressive achievment.

Overall, a very good weekend for Gold Medal Swim Club!!
