Age Group 1 Swims Fast at State Age Group Meet
Age Group 1 State Meet Review
I would like to congratulate all the AG1 swimmers who participated in the State Age Group Championships. Not only did they qualify for the State Championship meet, every participant contributed points to our best team finish ever – 2nd place overall. We started off a bit slow on Saturday morning, which was our weakest day, but as a group made adjustments and continued to get better throughout the meet. Everyone had life best times in at least half of their events. As a group, we had 16 finals and 14 consolation finals appearances.
Here is a breakdown of top finishes:
Jonathan Zinger scored in all 6 of his events with 3 finals and 3 consolation finals. His best finish was 6th in the 50 Freestyle.
Sasha Volkova scored in 5 events, including 4 top 5 finishes, and 1 consolation final. Her best finish was 2nd place in the 50 Breaststroke.
Anthony Kummet also scored in 5 events, including 4 finals and 1 consolation final. He placed 7th in both the 400 IM and 200 Butterfly.
Alp Cetegen finished in the top 8 in 2 events and 1 consolation final. His best finish was 6th in the 100 Breaststroke.
Ben George scored in one final and 2 consolation finals. His best finish was 5th in the 200 Butterfly.
Carl DiGiovine also scored in 1 final and 2 consolation finals. His best finish was 8th in the 200 Backstroke.
Peter Hendricks scored in all 3 events that he qualified. His best finish was 8th in the 200 Butterfly. He also made a new state qualifying time for the 1000 Free while swimming his 1650.
Tila Tometich scored in 2 events with 14th place finishes in both the 200 Backstroke and the 200 IM.
