Gold Medal Swim Club Honored the Following Swimmers of the Month for February

Age Group 2

Ahwatukee: Rachel Spresney-With a positive attitude and perfect attendance Rachel achieved her goal of qualifying for State in the 100 Breast. She set a new PR and earned her State cut at the Regional meet. Congratulations Rachel!  

Chandler: Hadley Nixon-Hadley has displayed a great attitude and consistent effort at practice, had near perfect practice attendance and achieved her first four State cuts in the 50/100BR, 50FR, 100IM.

Age Group 1

Kileigh McCarthy - Kileigh had a great Regional meet, dropping over 35 and 20 seconds in her 1000 and 500 respectively. Kileigh ended Regionals with best times in 6 out of her 7 events, with large time improvements in her 200 back (8 seconds) and 100 back (4.5 seconds) as well. Kileigh has great work ethic in practice and has nearly perfect practice attendance. Keep up the great work!

Senior II

Alex Bushko – Alex noticeably stepped up his effort and focus in February and it paid off.  He started off the month by establishing Life Bests in the 400 IM, 50 Free,100 Free, 500 Free at the MAC/SA/GM Tri-meet.  He followed that up at the 30th Annual Lost Dutchman Meet, where he established new Life Best Times in 6 events.  Some duplication as he dropped over 9 seconds in his 400 IM from his best time at the Tri-Meet.  Overall, 8 LBT’s in the month of February!  Excellent work Alex!

GOLD

Alexa Largent – Alexa has been working very hard this short course season and had a breakthrough month in February.  In the two February meets, Alexa achieved LBT’s in the 50/100/200/500 freestyles, the 50/100/200 backstrokes, the 100 Fly, and the 100/200 IM’s.  That’s new life best times in 10 events for the month of Febraury.  Outstanding!

Senior One

Jason Sugihara-Jason swam seven best times at the Lost Dutchman meet. He improved his 1650, 45 seconds since November, to achieve another Sectional cut. He broke a minute in the 100 breaststroke for the first time with at 59.69. He also improved his 400 IM almost six seconds to 4:12.89.

Blue

Alex George-Alex swam five best times at the Lost Dutchman meet to go along with his excellent attendance. He had major improvements in both breaststrokes and the 400 IM. His other best times were in the 200 and 500 freestyles.
