Gold Medal Men Place 14th at Junior Nationals
Gold Medal Swim Club sent a group of nine swimmers to the Junior Nationals in Irvine, California. This meet came after the group spent a week in Texas at the Future's Championships. The ability to swim best times at the second of two meets in a row was an incredible accomplishment.
Jack Luken and Trey Hesser scored individual points and the 800 free relay of Luken, Hesser, Jason Sugihara and Cedric Brooking placed 7th.
Jack Luken swam four best times in four events. He placed 5th in the 400 free, 5th in the 800 free and 9th in the 1500 and 11th in the 200 free. Jack just missed the Olympic Trials times in the 400 and 800.
Trey Hesser swam two best times in three events. He placed 12th in the 400 free and 15th in the 800 free. Both improvements from best times a week earlier. He also recorded a best time split on the 800 free relay.
Best times were also recorded by:
Reed Lucero 100 back
Clare Luken 100 free
Haley Mueller 100 back
Cedric Brooking 200 free (winter junior national cut)
Jason Sugihara best time relay splits 100 breast and 200 free
