Gold Medal Swims SC Season Opener at SAC Swimtember Meet!

JoAnna Woodward

Gold Medal swimmers were ready to race at the first meet of the season, here are the results!

AG2

The AG2 started the season with an excellent meet this weekend. Many new swimmers to the team swam great in their first meet. Friday night the group did an outstanding job with 1 new state and 11 new Regional qualifying times. Saturday, the whole team continued to do very well. We had 3 more new state qualifying times and 32 new Regional qualifying times. Sunday, AG2 finished strong with another new 3 state qualifying times and 51 new Regional qualifying times.
The overall results: 7 new State times 94 new Regional times and 206 Best Times.

In all of the best times, this was still our first meet, and we have a few technical components that we need to get more practice with! The turns, streamlines, and kick-outs were all strong, but as fatigue set in they began to break down. Making sure we are constantly reminding the swimmers of our expectations in these components will help to improve it, but the other piece to this puzzle is focused repetition. Whether before a warm-up or catching them doing it right in the main set, these parts are so frequent it's easy to fall into a habit. We saw a few open turns on backstroke and freestyle swims in our IM, but all of the other transition turns were great and they helped to keep us in the race. In the coming practices, AG2 will have a lot of focus on streamlines and kick-outs off EACH and EVERY wall!
