December Swimmers of the Month
Congratulations to Grant Rathjen on being Blue Group's Swimmer of the Month for December! Grant had some incredible swims at the Phoenix Candy Cane Classic, placing 1st in 4 of his events and had almost had 100% BTs. Grant's hard work in practice has been a huge part of his success this past month as well as his dedication to making almost every practice and bringing a positive attitude to every workout. For all his commitment and fast swimming, Grant was selected to represent AZ at the All-Star meet in California...way to go, Grant!
Congratulations to the S2 Swimmer of the Month Natalie Huddart! Natalie has almost perfect attendance, attends additional mornings, and has significantly stepped up her training. In her 200 breast at Candy Cane, she went out in a best time at the 100, held on strong, and dropped over five seconds (2:31.79). It was a great achievement and exciting to see her drive and toughness pay off. Keep up the great work Natalie!
December's Swimmer of the Month for AG1 is Evan Cho! Evan had a very impressive Candy Cane meet, with 9 best times, 6 finals appearances, and 2 new State times. On top of that, Evan's practice attendance has been near-perfect throughout entire season thus far, and his effort in practice has been consistently great, especially when challenged. Congratulations Evan!
AG2 Swimmer of Month is Edward Cai - Edward is a very coachable swimmer following directions from all coaches. He comes to practice excited to learn and make improvements on his skills. Edward constantly works hard and goes above and beyond with great attendance and positive attitude. He pushes himself at every practice.
Senior One Swimmers of the Month
Sydney Marinello
Sydney swam seven best times at the Tualatin Hills Invite. Some of her best swims included:
100 free-1 second drop
200 free-almost 2 second drop
200 IM-8 second drop
400 IM-10 second drop
These times were very significant improvements. She is now very close to Futures in a couple of events. She has maintained excellent attendance and continually improves her effort in practice.
Jake Herrera
Jake swam four best times at the Candy Cane Invite.
400 IM- 1.5 second drop
500 free-1 second drop
100 breast-1 second drop
100 free-half a second drop
These time drops were significant as he hadn’t improved these events for some time and there was no special preparation for this meet. Jake has excellent attendance and has a good work ethic.
