Paige Downey Wins the Junior National Championship in the 1650 Free and Senior One Swimmers of the Month Selected
This is a much delayed review of Senior One performances over the last two months.
Swimmers of the Month
November
Cohen Gunalus for coming very close to qualifying for the Junior Nationals. His improvments in 100 and 200 fly to get close to the Junior National qualifying times was very impressive. He gave up high school swimming and worked very hard to get close to his goals for the Fall.
Lorin Tobler for winning two State Championships at the D1 meet. Lorin qualified for Junior Nationals in the 100 fly and came close in the 100 back in winning those races. She put in a lot of work to improve all her times this Fall.
December
Paige Downey-Winning is very hard at the National level. Paige improved 11 seceonds in the 1650 to win the Junior Natonals West Championship in her best event. She was ranked 3rd overall with the combined Junior Natonal results. She recorded five best times at the meet in a very impressive effort.
Trey Hesser-Trey improved four seconds in the 500 free and 11 seconds in the 1650 to place in the top five in both events at the Junior Nationals West Championship. His last 100 of the 500 free was one of the fastest in the US at the Junior National level.
Senior One Fall Review
Senior One has some exciting results from the from November and December Meets. I have listed below some of the top performances.There were many exciting swim and breakthrough performances.
State High School Championships
Lorin Tobler-State champion in the 100 fly and 100 back and female swimmer of the meet.
Clare Luken-State champion in the 200 free.
Ellie Kayser State champion in the 500 free
Sophia Jahn-State Champion in the 50 free
Ariel Beltran-State Champion in the 100 fly and 100 back
Grant Kellis-Two Future’s time with the 200 and 500 free with a top eight in both.
Markus Quillinan- A new Future’s time in the 500 free and second place in that event
Tommy Henstein-A new Future’s time in the 100 back

Reagan Uhlik-Three best times including new Sectional times in 100 fly and 200 back
Cohen Gunsulas-Two best times in 100 and 200 fly and missing Junior National times by tenths

Paige Downey-First place in the 1650 and eighth in the 500 free and five best times.
Trey Hesser-Third place in the 500 free and fifth place in the 1650 free with best times

Ellie Kayser-12th place in the 1650 free with a best time
Sophia Jahn, Ellie Kayser, Clare Luken, Paige Downey- 15th place in the 800 free relay with Ellie, Paige and Sophia all recording best times.
Gold Medal placed 13th overall as a team
