Senior Two Meet Wrap-ups and Swimmers of the Month

S2 Swimmers of the Month - November & December

The December Swimmers of the Month for S2 are Benji Hames and Katie Skarbek! Both swimmers are incredibly hard workers with great attendance and great attitudes.

This season, Benji has been working on meet preparation and carrying skills and speed from practice into meets. His 200 FR at the Oregon meet was very impressive with a huge drop and clocking a 1:47!

Katie has been steadily getting better over the course of the season in her distance events and making big drops in her “off” events. One thing she has committed to is not breathing off of any of her walls and working on her underwaters. Even in distance practices, she is diligent about doing these details and I know they will have big payoffs later in the season.

Congratulations to Benji and Katie!

Senior 2 has had great fall meet performances. We started off with the Keever Invite at SAC. Coming off of the high school season, this was many swimmers' first time swimming events like the stroke 200’s and the mile. We had over 35 best times, some great drops, and a lot of re-learning how to pace these events.

The group then in Oregon and/or at Candy Cane. I thought the group did exceptional at both meets. I was incredibly impressed by how the younger swimmers performed in Oregon with some having only been a few or no travel meets.  Though Candy Cane was cold, swimmers did well - especially at finals and had over 40 best times. One thing we improved at over the course of both meets was swimming fast in prelims to secure a spot in finals. This is something we will continue to work on the rest of the season.
