January Meet Wrap-ups and Swimmers of the Month For January Revised

Michael Chasson

Age Group 2

Great job to our Swimmers of the month for December and January Luke Skousen and Addison Von Schoff.  Both swimmers come to practice everyday ready to learn and improve.  Addison after just joining the team in the fall already has 6 regional cuts.  Luke continues to improve all the time, recently dropping 15 seconds in his 200 free, 16 seconds in his 100 fly, and 6 seconds in his 50 free at the SAC Winter Invite. Great job Addison and Luke

Congratulations to all AG2 swimmers for absolutely crushing it this fall and winter!  We have 3 big meets remaining this season and I wanted to send a shout out to all of our swimmers and celebrate their current status in regards to Regional, State, and SWAGR Times or applaud them on great meet performances! Age Group 1

AG1, congrats on the success at the SAC Winter Invite. We surprised ourselves with new state/regional cuts in events that may have looked like a stretch. This should remind every one of you that when we focus on the details, special stuff happens. Speaking of details, I love how much you all love to race. However, we let some big details slip through the cracks! As all of our swimmers know, this week we have had an emphasis on streamlines. We are doing this because, in some 60% of our races, we pushed off the wall only to stop ourselves with a poor streamline.

As we make our way into the final stretch of the SCY season, we need to have consistency with practice. This will allow their brains to enhance the skills we have worked so hard on. Even one day out of the water will affect the following practices.

I'm excited for the next couple of weeks! We're sharpening up for some serious damage at regionals and state.

New state cuts: Dante (50 Fly), Thais (100 Free), Audrey (50 Fly), Logan (100 Breast), John (200 IM), Zephyr (50 Back, 50 Fly), Ellie (50 Fly)

New regional cuts: Adam (100 Breast, 200 IM), Audrey (1000 Free), Kara (200 Free, 100 Breast), Leila (50 Back)

Swimmer of the month for AG1: Stella Daniels

Stella has outstanding work ethic, she found a goal and took the steps every day to get her to that goal. She has also been extremely supportive of her teammates, providing motivation and helping out with sets. Keep up the fantastic work Stella!

Blue

Blue Swimmer of the Month

Royce Kountz is the January Swimmer of the Month! Royce brings a smile, a laugh, and a great work ethic to practice everyday. Her great attendance and energy at practice has made her teammates better. In January Royce has consistently improved in her 100 and 200 breast (1:11.1/2:36.3), and her 100 and 200 free (57.5/2:05.6). Congrats Royce and keep up the great work!

Senior 2

Congratulations Senior 2 on a great January meet season. Below are some of the new cuts and outstanding performances for the group. Congratulations as well to our January Swimmers of the Month Brooke Horton and Porter Ellsworth!

Brooke is a very driven athlete who challenges herself during practice and is always looking for opportunities to get better. In January, she swam many distance events at meets and always approached them with excitement and the intent to do better. She does an awesome job knowing what paces she needs to be holding in practice and that’s paid off with a new Senior State cut in the 1000!

Porter goes above and beyond to push himself in practice and goes to optional mornings to keep getting better. He is someone who always works hard and pushes his teammates around him. He has been steadily improving at every meet this season and I’m looking forward to all of the great things he does during the Championship season.

Congratulations Brooke and Porter!
