Paige Downey Wins Junior National Championship in the 1500 Free and Gold Medal Places Top 20
Paige Downey won the 1500 meter freestyle at the Junior National Championship in Irvine last week. Her time is the 7th fastest by an American this swim year.
Gold Medal swimmers all achieved at least one best time on the way to a top 20 finish at the meet. The Junior Nationals brings together all the best 18 and under swimmers in the United States once a year. It is the most competitve meet in the United States, besides the Olympic Trials or other National qualifying events.
The women's 800 free relay of Marley Spray, Ellie Kayser, Reagan Uhlik, and Paige Downey placed fifth, for the highest finish ever by a Gold Medal relay at a national meet.
Lorin Tobler, Reagan Uhlik, and Marley Spray all achieved individual finals swims.
