S1 September Meet Wrap-up
Senior 1
In the training we have been hitting, some of these times may have come as a surprise. That is the same focus you have been producing and maintaining in workouts. Here are a few events that stood out.
I'd like to take a moment to highlight Katie Skarbek’s 500FR. This might be the breakout swim of the year. Without a doubt, the most profound swim I have witnessed as a coach that helped the athlete. She has been working toward this breakthrough for over a year. The evidence has been there the whole time, but it hasn’t ever clicked like this. There was no magic, there was no luck. Katie executed the same level of commitment she has displayed for the last year; this time, we just got the result we hoped for. Maybe it doesn’t happen right away, maybe it will test your commitment. If you don’t invest and believe in your work, it won’t happen.
Katie Skarbek 500FR - previous best 5:15, new best 5:03
Lily Hineman 200BK - dropped just under 4 seconds
Mark Khoklov - 500FR was one of the best split races he’s put together
Porter Ellsworth - 500FR 15 minutes after a 200FLY, off his 500 best by 1 second
Marley Spray - 200FR unsuited and on her best time from Spring Sections this year
