Blue Swims Fast at the MGK Odd Age Meet
We experienced highs and lows, just like every other meet; however, we demonstrated a great mindset in seeing opportunities regardless of what had happened in the past. A quote from a young man on a D1 basketball team worded it nicely when he said, “Can you be fully invested in the process without an emotional attachment to the result?” I still want to see all of you every day. I don’t care you didn't win. I don’t care that you made mistakes. I care that you showed up for yourself and continued to invest in YOUR future. I care that you took a fall, stumbled, or face planted and kept going.
There has been a growing sense of urgency in this group. “I need to make this cut”, “I need to do this by this meet if I want to be happy at the end of the season.” What you have with you now is what you will have at your championship meet. Emotions, memories, relationships, hopes, and failures. Your ability to call upon the parts of life that help you keep going is what grows.
Standout swims:
Ellie achieved her first sectionals cut in the mile
Ryan Foley 2 consecutive meets of dropping 3 or more seconds in the 200 free
Gavin (similar to Ryan) dropped his 200fr again
Sydney's best 200 free - great, aggressive first 100
Ella achieved Tualatin standards, dropping over 45 seconds in the mile
Riley trusted the stroke work she's done (process) - first big drop this season (result)
Sophia 100 fly 1:01.2 - she stuck to her dolphin kicks on the last walls
