Swimmers of the Month: Jay Pearson and Meredith Ranes

Congratulations to our October swimmers of the month Jay Pearson and Meredith Ranes! Both Jay and Meredith have had an excellent first part of the short course season. They both have excellent attendance and are always looking to improve. They are hard workers and pay attention to details while listening and taking feedback from their coaches! All of this hard work and dedication has paid off as they have made significant time drops this fall! Great Job Meredith and Jay!

Swimmer of the Month: Elan Chong

Elan has been on a roll. She continues to impress with her attention to detail in practice and her ability to carry those details into racing performance. Her swims at the Pumpkin Patch Splash were a true breakout, showcasing her consistency, focus, and willingness to push herself.

Elan is bold to take on new challenges (like a 200 fly!) and approaches everything with a mix of discipline and curiosity. At meets she “locks in” to execute her races with strategy and confidence. Beyond her own success, Elan is always encouraging her teammates and celebrating their wins, sometimes even more than her own.

She’s growing into a strong leader who leads by example, showing what it means to stay composed and competitive, all while having fun. We are proud of how far she’s come and excited to see where her hard work takes her next!

Swimmer of the Month: Luke Skousen

Congratulations, Luke, for being named the October Swimmer of the Month. You have been making great strides in all facets of this sport. Luke is one of the first athletes I have been privileged to work with who goes beyond personal achievement. His commitment to the team, teammates, and coaches. Every moment he is in the pool or around the pool is a learning opportunity for Luke. He will come to practice with questions, be the first to say hi/bye, and stick around to hear what I'm seeing during his practice. I've loved watching you become this great learner, but even more now, taking that learning and executing on the next opportunity. Thank you for being a great role model, Luke.

Swimmer of the Month:  Oliver Tham

Oliver has earned Senior 3’s October Swimmer of the month for his work and steadiness in the water. Oliver has been at nearly every practice, pushes himself in practice, and competed in the fall meets. He has grown a lot for it in the short time he’s been on the team. Improving on times that are only a year old by over 15sec in the 100 free, 100 breast, and massively improving his 50 free time!

Swimmer of the Month: Hadley Nixon

Hadley has earned Senior 2’s October Swimmer of the Month through her consistency, leadership, and commitment to improvement. She led the group with the highest attendance, showing up ready to work every day and setting the tone for those around her. Hadley listens closely to coaching direction, applies feedback, and shows an impressive ability to re-engage skills and concepts throughout practice. She is consistent even on days where most of her teammates were at high school practices.

At the Pumpkin Patch Meet, she brought a strong team spirit. She could be seen cheering for her teammates, celebrating their successes, and lifting the whole group’s energy. Her hard work is paying off, too: Hadley has posted some fast new best times this month! She dropped 38sec in her 1000 free, 4sec in her 100 fly, 2.5sec in her 100 back, and dropped within a second of a sectional time in her 100 and 50 free. Hadley is a model of positivity, effort, and dedication and deserves October’s swimmer of the month!

Swimmer of the Month: Kevin Foley

Swimming is a sport that anyone can achieve in. Talent helps at the start, but it's discipline, accountability, and joy that will carry you onto the next step/level. Kevin had to work his way into this level. He is one of the best humans Gold Medal has to offer to the community and team. Between the start of this SCY season and now, Kevin has missed 8 practices. Improvement has been just as consistent. Keep opening those doors for yourself, Kevin. Lead others to that same joy during practice; it matters more than you know!
