November Swimmers of the Month For Gold Medal Swim Club

Michael Chasson

AG2: Violet Underwood and Felix Nguyen

Congratulations to our November swimmers of the month Violet Underwood and Felix Nguyen!  Violet comes to practice everyday on time and is focused and ready to work.  She listens and is always eager to take instruction.  Violet is also a fantastic team mate.

Felix is very competitive in practice and in meets.  He has a great work ethic and is always pushing himself to be better.  Felix also has a positive attitude and brings great energy to our practices!  Great job Violet and Felix!

AG1: Juniper Narus

Juniper is the definition of grit and resilience. She is an endurance powerhouse who never shies away from a challenge! If there’s a tough event on the meet schedule, she’s the first to sign up. Juniper sees a mountain and chooses to climb it, bringing a dauntless mindset to both practice and meets.

Even after breaking her wrist and spending time in a cast, Juniper stayed engaged, positive, and determined to keep moving forward. She continues to show up ready to work, pushes past her comfort zone, and challenges herself in ways that build confidence and strength.

Juniper’s willingness to take on challenges, combined with her steady effort and competitive, composed mindset, makes her a great representative of our group. I’m proud of her perseverance and excited to see what summit she climbs next!

Blue: Sydney Withem

Congrats to Sydney, the Blue swimmer of the month for November! Sydney’s attendance has been great, and her practice habits have been superb. From being an example in new skills to showing up and racing no matter what, Sydney has demonstrated an elite mindset.

Sydney has been a rock in Blue. In the times we are exploring new movements and ways to do the same old thing, Sydney is silently leading the charge. Her ability to take my explanation and description and translate that into movement is amazing to see. Because she can maintain this level of focus, we have seen some wonderful drops at meets. This is something I hope we can all achieve in Blue: consistent and deliberate focus in practice, so that our brain can flow at meets. Thank you for leading by example, leading through action, and smiling the whole time.

S2: Delaney Holm

Delaney is Senior 2’s Swimmer of the Month for November! Delaney demonstrates a high level of consistency in both her training and meet performances. She approaches practice with focus and purpose, listens carefully to coaching feedback, and makes a clear effort to apply corrections immediately in the water.

At meets, Delaney has taken noticeable steps forward in her racing. She competes with confidence, stays engaged through every phase of her races, and shows a growing ability to execute race strategies under pressure. Her efforts have resulted in strong swims, improved execution, and continued progress across her events. Delaney does a great job of staying composed behind the blocks and racing with intent from start to finish.

In practice, Delaney leads by example through her work ethic and determination. She pushes herself through challenging sets, maintains a positive attitude, and helps set the standard for her lane. Her commitment to improvement, both in daily training and in competition, has made her a reliable and motivating presence within the Senior 2 group.

We’re proud of Delaney’s progress and excited to see how her continued dedication translates into even stronger performances moving forward.

S3: Daniel McCoy

Daniel is Senior 3’s Swimmer of the Month for November! Inside of practice, Daniel is always on task and approaches every set with focus and intention. When asked to perform a drill or execute a specific concept, he gives his best effort to hit the details correctly and understands the purpose behind the work.

Daniel does an excellent job leading the group through intervals, helping keep practices organized and on pace. He is respectful to his teammates, the coaching staff, and the facility, and he is quick to hustle and help wherever needed. His professionalism and positive attitude set a strong example for the entire Senior 3 group.

Outside of practice, Daniel stands out through his communication and accountability. Coaches are always informed when his schedule changes, and he takes responsibility for staying connected. This level of maturity and reliability is greatly appreciated.

Daniel’s dedication is also showing up at swim meets. He has been competing with confidence, racing with purpose, and making steady strides toward his goals. His continued commitment to strong training habits and thoughtful race execution has resulted in noticeable progress.

We’re proud of the example Daniel sets every day and excited to see how his hard work continues to pay off.

S1:  Mark Khoklov

Mark missed no workouts in November. He couldn’t afford to be out of water for even a moment, for his own confidence and for his belief that his body would be ready. Watching your mindset shift from facing the obstacle and stopping, to seeing the obstacle and the other ways around it was amazing. That is an elite mindset that I hope we can all find. Nothing will ever be perfect, so why even debate an excuse in your own mind?

Over the course of November, Mark was displaying the best mindset possible to give himself a shot at a 2.5-second drop to make Winter Junior Nationals. Mark took every step possible, and in the end, missed by less than a second. You can find whatever lesson you want to learn, but this is what I learned about Mark: his passion runs deep, and his desire for success is far stronger than his fear of failure. Keep growing that Mark.
