S2 January Meet Wrap-up
Dual Meet of Champs
Senior 2 members in DMC 2026 showed up and raced well. The senior two swimmers scored lots of points in the dual meets and in the finals session! They contributed to the 4th place finish of Gold Medal Swim Club in the meet overall! Delaney and Hadley took home 49 and 44 points respectively. Alaina and Cullen with 35 and 34 points respectively, through the dual meets and the finals session.
Cullen had a great 200 fly in the dual meet on Sunday! He went out challenging himself with what he could do, and suffered a little on the last 50. He tried lighting it up more in finals, but like Icarus, Cullen flew too close to the sun, opening 2sec faster than his prelims swim and paying the price! I like to point out this race because if a swimmer were to make an error in pacing, I would rather they learn their limits and push it, because they will generally grow faster with that mentality! In that realm or reasoning, Alaina picked up a best time in the 100 free because her opening split of the 100 on the relay was the fastest opening split she’s done! There will be a point of negative returns in this theory, but walking that line is extremely difficult to do physically, and mentally!

S2 – Bob Platt Memorial Invite 2026
Great job racing at Bob Platt Memorial Invite Senior 2 and Senior 3 swimmers! The racing was arguably the first ‘cold’ meet of the season, at least for the first or second events of the day, so being ready to go and prepared was key for fast racing. Racing improved as the day went on, even if the sessions were longer!
Senior 2 had a tough time, we did not pull back training at all going into the weekend. The point was to stay on-top of your times as we essentially trained through the weekend. Secondary strokes seemed to take off, and in general, technical changes have been coming together. Overall, it was a solid weekend of racing, if not challenging! The youngers in the group were coming off of DMC the weekend prior too, so shoutout to the double meet weekends!
