It's Time for 2024 Aqualaps!

Hello GSC Families, 

First of all, I want to welcome all the new swimmers and their families who have recently joined Glacier Swim Team! It’s so great to see so many new smiling faces out there. For those of you new to the club, GSC has only one fundraising event of the year, and it is time to start gearing up for our Aqualaps Fundraiser now. The money that is raised goes towards many great things such as coaching expenses, travel, awards/ribbons, and all the fun events that GSC hosts throughout the year. Each swimmer will be required to raise a minimum of $350. Below is more detailed information about what to expect and I will be sending out additional information along the way.

2024 GSC CORPORATE SPONSOR DRIVE

KICKS OFF JANUARY 29^th

Corporate sponsorships are an important part of GSC's fundraising revenue and a big reason why GSC has been able to keep dues low.  All swimmers are strongly encouraged to try to bring in at least two corporate sponsorships.  The corporate sponsor drive kicks off on Monday, January 29^th and will continue through Thursday, May 9^th.  Up to $1,000 in corporate donations per swimmer will count toward Aqualaps totals for prizes and will be applied toward their membership fee for next season.

PHASE 1 - FAMILY and EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: January 29, 2024 - February 17 2024:  Businesses for which a swimmer has a family or employment relationship will be reserved for that swimmer to approach during this period, but only if notification is made to the Corporate Sponsor Coordinator (Savona Kiessling) during this time.  It cannot be assumed that she knows of these relationships.  Please do not reach out to Savona before January 29^th. 

PHASE 2 - PREVIOUSLY RESERVED BUSINESSES AND NON-RESERVED BUSINESSES: February 18, 2024 – March 9, 2024: Reserved Businesses are those businesses that have previously donated to GSC.  Swimmers who have received previous donations of $100 or more from a reserved business in past may approach that business for sponsorship if no family or employment relationship is claimed so long as the swimmer declares his or her intention to do so by notifying Savona Kiessling in advance.  Failure in doing so may result in that business being claimed by someone else. Non-reserved businesses are those businesses that have not previously donated to GSC and subsequently are not included on the Reserved Businesses list.  If your swimmer would like to approach a non-reserved business for a corporate sponsorship, they must FIRST contact Savona Kiessling and tell her which business you would like to solicit.  She will make sure a letter has not already gone to that business and will email you a corporate sponsor letter to deliver.  The letter introduces Glacier Swim Club, outlines sponsorship opportunities, and tells them where to send their donation.

PHASE 3 - OPEN RECRUITMENT FOR UNCLAIMED RESERVED BUSINESSES AND NON-RESERVED BUSINESSES: March 10, 2024 – May 9, 2024:  Reserved businesses who have not been claimed prior to March 10^th, will be offered up to those swimmers expressing interest on a first come, first serve basis.  Swimmers may express interest in being on the “wait” list at any time by contacting Savona Kiessling.  Swimmers will be added to the wait list if there are businesses available that have previously donated to GSC that have not been approached.  Many businesses go unclaimed, so if you need assistance, please contact Savona.     

KEY THINGS TO REMEMBER: 

• If your swimmer would like to approach a business for a corporate sponsorship, they must FIRST contact Savona Kiessling and tell her which business you would like to solicit.  We can’t have multiple families approaching a single business. 
• In the instance where there is a conflict between a swimmer with prior year credit and one who has a family/employee relationship, priority will be given to the latter. 
• A sponsorship will only count toward a swimmer's Aqualaps total for prizes and payment of membership if Savona is contacted before the request is made and the swimmer receives a corporate sponsor letter.
