Aqualaps Fundraising

Amber Treston

Why is it important to help fundraise?

Glacier Swim Club is an amazing year-round club that offers access to dedicated coaches with fun events for the swimmers along the way. To keep monthly fees reasonable to all families, GSC requires our help to raise money once a year. This annual fundraising event helps raise the critical funds necessary to support the club’s activities (pool rental, equipment purchases, team travel, and much more).

Our goal is to raise $78,000! We can do this, but we can’t do it without all your help. Thank you for everything you do to help us reach this goal.

All swimmers should raise at least $350 during the Aqualaps fundraiser time frame for their annual membership fee to be waived. Swimmers raising $500 or more will be eligible for great incentive prizes! You know the kids love their prizes!! Help them reach their goals.

Save the Date - Aqualaps Swim Day event on May 11th at AGB:

It's a swim-a-thon tradition! If you are a new swimmer, or maybe you just moved up, below are the goals for each group:

  • Sockeyes         125 lengths (3,125 yds/1.77 miles)
  • Sealions          150 lengths (3,750 yds/2.13 miles)
  • Chinooks         175 lengths (4,375 yds/2.48 miles)
  • Sharks             200 lengths (5,000 yds/2.84 miles)
  • Orcas               250 lengths (6,250 yds/3.55 miles)

Ready to help fundraise but not sure where to start?

Set up your child’s Event Fundraising page located on the GSC website. Go to My Account - Event Fundraising - Set-up (located in the center in red). This is where you can upload a picture or add any fun information about why your child loves the GSC team. Once it is ready click Promote and post it to your social media page, email, or text the link to friends and family! PLEASE NOTE – The money raised on the website does not put your kids into the weekly prize drawing, but it does go towards their overall amount raise.

Sign up for the Aqualaps Fundraising table at Super Bear or Safeway. Signups are open and located on the Event page on the website. When you sit at the table, please remind your child they are representing the GSC team. It is important to be kind, smile, and say thank you! If you bring something to offer those who donate, such as baked goods or candy, it may help encourage people to donate too!

Go door to door. Go say hello to your neighbors and have the kids explain all the reasons they love to swim and are working hard to help raise money for their team.

Corporate Sponsors. If you have a business in mind you would like to ask a donation from, please be sure to reach out to Savonna Kiessling first [email protected].

QR Codes? Morgan Brown Holden posted to the Facebook GSC Page on how she linked the Aqualaps Fundraising page to a QR code and then provides instructions on how to locate her child’s page. What a great idea! I might have to try that this year.

Weekly PRIZES: That’s right, there are weekly raffle prizes being given away to those who turn in money each week. Your child must turn their money in the week prior to be eligible for the following week’s prize drawings. We did not have prizes given out last week which means more prizes available for this week! Whoop-whoop!

We have some great items to give out from some of our favorite local businesses this year too! Shout out to these businesses who donated prizes:

  • Glacier Cinema, Rock Dump, Trove, Alaska Robotics, Imagination Station, Flying Squirrel, Annie Kails, Wolf Song, Asiana Gardens, Parks & Rec, Pucker Wilson, and the Fudge Company!
