HEAD COACH, LARA ("LJ") JACKSON

Coach Jackson is an El Paso native and former swimmer for Coach Stanton. She went on to swim at the University of Arizona, where she was an All-American, setting numerous school and NCAA records. In 2008, she broke the American record in the Women's 50 meter Freestyle. She swam on the US National Team and was a gold medal winner at the 2011 Pan-American Games. She has coached swimming in France, Florida Gulf Coast University, and most recently with the University of Arizona.

Coach Wright Stanton III was inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022. Wright founded his own swim team in 1999 with a focus on stroke techniques and racing strategies. His vast knowledge of swimming, which  stems from his continued pursuit of knowledge on the sport, has led his athletes to many championships and awards , to include Future Series, Speedo Sectional, Junior Nationals, Grand Prix, and Senior Circuit. His recognition and success led to an invitation by Lara Jackson to coach the Ford Tucson National Team. Wright has dedicated his life to teaching and sharing his knowledge about swimming with others. He continues to be an inspiration to many not only for his success in swimming but for his dedication to helping and serving his community. Coach Stanton hopes to be an inspiration to those facing adversity in the swimming community and hopes to one day see more African American coaching representation at the Collegiate, National, and Olympic level. Coach Stanton works with SWAT's Senior Swimmers to help them be as successful as they can be, whether it's at the next local swim meet, National meet, or finding the right college to swim at.
