To determine which class your child should be in,
review each skill list. If your child has completed a
majority of the skills in a given level, level them up.

Level 1 - Water Acclimation - Minnows

  • Fully submerge face, 3 seconds
  • Float on back with support
  • Enter and exit water independently
  • Kick on front and back with support
  • Alternate arms 10 times

Level 2 - Primary Skills - Tadpoles

  • Float on front and back without support, 5 seconds
  • Get into swim position
  • Can demonstrate rhythmic breathing
  • Flutter kick on front and back
  • Use arm action with front and back stroke, 5 yards

Level 3 - Stroke Readiness - Guppies

  • Retrieve objects from chest- deep water
  • Bob, submerging head completely
  • Glide on front and back without support
  • Coordinate arm stroke with freestyle, 10 yards
  • Backstroke with flutter kick and rotating arms, 10 yards
  • Elementary backstroke with or without support
  • Reverse direction while swimming on front or back

Level 4 - Stroke Development - Amberjacks

  • Deep water bobbing
  • Side breathing
  • Freestyle stroke with side breath, 25 yards
  • Backstroke, 25 yards
  • Elementary backstroke, 10 yards
  • Breaststroke kick, 10 yards
  • Sidestroke kick, 10 yards

 

 

Level 5 - Stroke Refinement - Dolphins

  • Side breathing
  • Freestyle for 50 yards
  • Backstroke for 50 yards
  • Elementary backstroke for 25 yards
  • Breaststroke for 10 yards
  • Sidestroke for 10 yards
  • Swim underwater for 3 body lengths
  • Dolphin kick for 10 yards
  • Intro to turns

Level 6 - Skill Proficiency - Rays

  • Freestyle 100 yards with 1 turn
  • Backstroke 100 yards with 1 turn
  • Breastroke 25 yards
  • Sidestroke 25 yards
  • Butterfly 10 yards
  • Freestyle flip turn

Level 7 - Advanced Skills - Sharks

  • Freestyle 200 yards
  • Backstroke 100 yards
  • Breaststroke 50 yards
  • Sidestroke 50 yards
  • Swim underwater 15 yards
  • Butterfly 25 yards
  • Backstroke flip turn
