SWIM MEET GUIDELINES

Below are a list of guidelines you must follow for your child to participate in any swim meets for the MB Dolphin Swim Team. If you have any questions at all, please contact us at [email protected]

1. Once the Meet Info is available, you will be sent an email with directions on how to accept or decline your child’s participation in that meet. If you do not receive that email, you can visit the GoMotion website at www.GoMotion.com/Team-Events. By clicking on the “Team Calendar” you can select the “Team Event” tab where you will see a list of swim meets and events. You can accept or decline your child’s participation in all of the meets.

Remember, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to sign their child up for the swim meet before thedeadline. Once the deadline has passed, you will not be able to accept or decline the meet.

2. If you plan on signing your child up for a swim meet you might be required to be a timer for our team. Before the meet, we will assign timing shits that will last for at least 1 but no more than 2 hours. You are responsible for communicating with the coaching staff if you cannot volunteer to time.

3. When attending a swim meet, please dress according to weather. Swimmers must bring their team swimsuits and team caps to every swim meet. NO EXCEPTIONS!

4. When you arrive at the meet, you should first check your swimmer in with either their swim coach or the swim team coordinator. The coaches/swim team coordinator will check swimmers in and let them know what events they are swimming in.

5. Once your child has checked in, please look to sit with the other families on our Team. We will usually provide an EZ Up tent so that the swimmers and their families can sit together.

6. Make sure that your swimmer checks in with the coach each race. The coaches will remind swimmers which stroke they are going to swim in and any race technique and strategy one last time before they swim.

7. After each event that your child swims they are allowed to warm down if the meet permits it. The rule of thumb is that your swimmer warm down at least twice the length of the event in which they participated. For example, if your swimmer swims the 50 freestyle, your swimmer should warm down at least a 100 freestyle. In almost all cases, warm-down is conducted using the freestyle stroke.

8. Pack light snacks for your swimmer. Fruit, granola bars, waters, and Gatorade make great snacks between events. Stay away from dairy!

9. At the end of each day, make sure you pick up all of your belongings. Please be sure to check in with your child’s coach before leaving the pool area to make sure that your child is not entered in a relay as most relays are not made up in advance.
