BRANTFORD NOVEMBER MEET

Novice Meet

What a great way to start our Novice competition season.

The Brantford Junior Series Meet on Nov 5 was geared to introduce new swimmers to swim meets.

We had 33 swimmers, ranging from 6 to 14 years old.

The day started with a lot of nervous kids and a few tears but ended with a lot of smiles and “Best Time” ribbons.  We like to ensure that there is no pressure at these meets, but a lot of encouragement and praise.

We forget how scary it can be to be so little and having to get into a deep pool, and then be asked to get on a block and dive in… We are so proud of all of these kids, and the wonderful milestones they met.

The fun continues at our own Color Meet this weekend.  We hope you all signed up!  It is going to be a lot of fun!

2 Day meet – Senior, Junior, and Development

The meet had 3 sessions for the Seniors, Juniors, and Devo swimmers.

Focus and Goals:

  • Junior focus was streamline, and with good stroke techniques.  Several entries in events never swum before.
  • Senior focus was to be aggressive with our races, evaluate fitness level. Goal is to be within 3% of best time.

Results:

·         52 swimmers from Snr, Jnr, and Devo

·         268 swims

·         145 best times (54%), 50 within 3% of best time (19%), 44 first time swims (16%)

Take aways:

  • Overall “success” rate to goal was as expected, with more being “best times” as opposed to within 3%
  • Some improvements on transitions off the wall, better body positions (still needs some work)
  • Swimmers attacked the first half of the race better, and hung on longer which indicated improved fitness
  • Still need to focus on our transitions off the wall

What next:

Looking forward to Windsor.
