Border City Swim Meet
On December 4-6, GHAC team members excitedly left for Windsor to participate in the Border City Swim Meet. For many of our swimmers, this is one of their favorite competitions because the pool is fast and the meet is fun.
The weekend started with some very fast swims (approx. 90% best times on day 1), and GHAC was well represented in the finals. The cheering was loud, from on the pool deck and up in the gallery. By day 3, our athletes were getting tired, with one swimmer exclaiming “I swam 21 races in 3 days”… but the cheering and the support never wavered.
Our goal was to attack our races, continuing on the theme of “go out hard, and hold on for dear life”… and that showed in the results. Here are the impressive stats:
o 417 Events entered, with a total of 577 swims
o 73% of the swims were best times
o An additional 11% of the swims were within 3% of best times

As mentioned in a previous Meet Sheet, most of these competitive swimmers are working hard to qualify for higher level meets. Swim Canada and Swim Ontario host a series of meets that have qualifying standards. Swimmer must meet these times each year. So while a swimmer may have had a qualifying time for an event last year, they may no longer as they have aged up to a tougher qualifying standard. The list below shows athlete’s events where they made a new qualifying standard that they did not have before. Congratulations to all
