From the Pool to the Lake Morgan C. Continues to Find Success in the Water

Morgan C. of the Senior Performance group competed in a 4km open water race this past weekend in Parry Sound and won gold!

In a time of 1:00:18.70 she won the race by 12 seconds! This was a great open water tune-up for Morgan as she gets ready to compete at the Canadian Open Water Festival in Welland!

For those wondering here are some fun facts and conversions from open water to pool swimming:

-4 KM in Open Water is equivalent to 160 lengths in a 25m pool (most our pools are this size) or 80 lengths in a 50 m pool (Olympic size).

-4 KM in 1:00.18.70 is an average pace of 1:30 per 100m or :45 per 50m

-The Open Water World Championships are currently on in Fukuoka, Japan at the World Aquatics Championships.

-There are some international swimmers that race both open water and in the pool, including Canadian Eric Brown!
