2024 Canadian Masters National Swimming Championships Swim Meet Review
Middlesex Swimming would like to pass along our congratulations to all of our Masters swimmers who participated in the 2024 Speedo Canadian National Masters Championships held in Windsor this past weekend Friday May 24th to Sunday, May 26th.
All of the masters’ swimmers put together loads of outstanding performances over the weekend in Windsor!!! After a very long weekend of racing the club came away from the swim meet in 1st place in the overall Large Team Category (unfortunately Swimming Canada has let us know that their was no banner for this category, as outlined in the meet package), the men's team won the men side of the competition (bravo gentleman!!!), the women came in 2nd place on the women's side of things (wonderful job ladies!!!), and the club came in 2nd place overall at the competition out of 99 clubs.
The club would like to congratulate Technosport Masters Swim Club and all of their swimmers on winning the Overall Team Banner as well as the Overall Medium Team Category at the National Championships.
The top scoring woman on the team as well as top scoring woman at Nationals was Charlize Chan who scored an outstanding 84 points for the team, swam to 1st place finishes in all of her events, set 9 club records + 2 Provincial records + 1 National Record - OUTSTANDING SWIMMING CHARLIZE!!!
The top scoring man on the team as well as top scoring male at the championship was Kyle Stuckless who scored a total of 84 points across his races, swam to 1st place finishes in all of his individual races (similarly to Charlize), set 20 club records + 3 Provincial records + 2 National Records - INCREDIBLY DONE KYLE!!!
After the last swimmer touched the wall and the swim meet came to a close there were over 90 NEW CLUB RECORDS, 3 NEW PROVINCIAL RECORDS, 2 NEW NATIONAL RECORDS, 53 Gold Medals + 47 Silver Medals + 31 Bronze Medals (equaling 131 medals in total captured by our swimmers), and most importantly lots of positive memories that will last for many years to come - WAY TO GO TEAM!!!
The club would also like to thank Windsor Aquatic Club, Leamington Laser Swim Team, Windsor
Essex Swim Team, Swimming Canada, and all of the volunteers for putting on such an excellent event for the swimmers - Thank you!
And finally, the club again makes its normal plug towards anyone that is thinking about getting involved with these Masters swim meets in the future. These swim meets are always loads of fun to experience, you will likely make new friends (or reconnect with old ones), they are great opportunities to continue to help you grow as both an athlete and person, and these swim meets are excellent for giving everyone something else to work towards.
