2025 WAAC Spring Classic + Swim For Heart Masters Swim Meet Reviews

Middlesex Swimming would like to congratulate our 17 age group swimmers that raced at the 2025 WAAC Spring Classic swim meet this past weekend in Wilmot as well as Georgia Teare for participating in her 1st Swim For Heart!!!

2025 WAAC Spring Classic Swim Meet Review

This past weekend in Wilmot 17 of our swimmers raced in the 2025 WAAC Spring Classic swim meet, which had swimmers from around Southwestern Ontario in attendance. Again, our age group swimmers had an excellent competition! We had a lot of heat winners (who won some very cool stickers), a couple of swimmers won exciting bell heat racing (where they raced for further prizes - 1st person to the wall wins a rubber ducky and gift card!!!). Additionally, almost every single swimmer achieved personal best times (16 of our 17 swimmers obtain a best time in at least one of their races)… And another awesome element to touch on, which our coaching staff was really proud of was that our swimmers had the fewest disqualifications out of any of the clubs that attended the 3-day long swim meet - It’s a pretty awesome result when even the senior officials state how impressed they were with our swimmers’ technique, skills, and almost no disqualifications!!) :)

Special mention goes out to Tobias Johnson who competed in his 1st swim meet ever and was turning heads around the pool deck and in the stands with his big underwater skills off of each wall within his freestyle and backstroke races (Toby almost went beyond the 15m line as a 6-year-old in his 1st ever 100m backstroke race and at minimum 5m off of most of the rest of the walls in his races, which was awesome to see!). Also, the club would like to highlight and recognize Beatrice Thompson who qualified for the Western Regional Swimming Championships for her first time in both the 50m and 100m backstroke – Congratulations Beatrice!

Wonderful job everyone at the swim meet!!!

Swim For Heart Masters Swim Meet Review

At the Swim For Heart Georgia Teare ended up completing her 1st ever 1500m freestyle in 22:48.42. Although Georgia had mixed feelings about the race... As she knows she can go much faster because her preparation at the event didn't go as she would have liked, but it was her first 1500m freestyle, so she was happy to have had the experience. Georgia's reflections on how her race unfolded, both the areas for improvement and the positive aspects as well as the consistency in her splits were certainly impressive to both see and hear about after the completion of her race! Georgia is already looking ahead to provincials with clearer goals and our coaching staff is very confident that she will continue to improve and achieve even faster times there because of what we have been seeing from Georgia in training.

Also, we are excited to pass on that Georgia set 5 club records within her 1500m freestyle that she completed this past Sunday, March 9th. Georgia ended up setting records for the long course 100m + 200m + 400m + 800m (all within her 1500m freestyle) as well as the 1500m freestyle for women in the 30–34-year-old age category with her time of 22:48.42 - Congratulations Georgia!!!

The club would like to ensure that we provide our many thanks to the Wilmot Aquatic Aces Swim Club (WAAC), Etobicoke Olympian Masters Aquatic Club (EOMAC), and all of the other volunteer officials for helping to run these swim meets this past weekend!
