12 & Under Swim Meet Review

12 & Under Swim Meet Review
Middlesex Swimming would like to congratulate all of our age group swimmers that raced in the 2026 12 & Under swim meet held this past weekend in London!!!

At the swim meet 100% of our swimmers achieved at least one or more personal best times... And an outstanding 14 of our 24 swimmers swam best times in every single race that they competed within - Congratulations all of you on your performances!!! We also had a handful of swimmers continue to get even closer to making Regional Championships time standards, Beatrice Thompson qualified to swim in 3 more races at Regionals, and Alizee Stanish qualify for the upcoming Short Course Regional Championships in the last swim meet to do so! Additionally, many more swimmers took on new races (which ranged from new strokes to longer distances), which was also excellent to see.
Special mention also goes out to Ashna Chodavarapu, Norah Francis-Kappos, Laila Hashad, and Rylee McNamme who all competed in their first ever competitive swim meet! All of these swimmers blew away both the coaching staffs’ expectations of how they would do at the swim meet as well as their entry times. However, what Coach Bailey and Coach Mackenzie are most proud of is that all of them certainly came away from the swim meet with invaluable life experiences, wonderful lessons, and further belief in themselves that will serve them well in the future both in and out of the pool.
The club would also like to recognize our top male and female athletes who took off the most amount of time at the swim meet (i.e. the most improved swimmers at the swim meet). The female swimmer with the most time taken off was Ellen Butler with 208.96secs taken off (or about 3:28.96 in time off) and the male with the most time taken off was George Moskal with 95.13secs taken off (or about 1:35.13 in time off). Congratulations Ellen and George on your BIG IMPROVEMENTS in the pool this past weekend!
There is still lots of room for improvement for all of our swimmers as the continued to move forward within swimming, but Coach Bailey and Coach Mackenzie were happy to see that each swimmer took on putting their best races down and in the event that some of the athletes received disqualifications, that they are determined to correct either their technique or skills to ensure that they become the best swimmers that they can be in the water in the near future. Everything both in the pool and out of it is learnable, but Coach Bailey and Coach Mackenzie again hopes that with some of the lessons learned from this past weekend that every swimmer continues to understand that the necessary journey to get to the destination that a person (or in this case a swimmer) wishes is not the one that is always understood but it is the one that is required. Thus, each swimmer needs to be thankful and embrace the obstacles, challenges, and tests that life presents them with, as it will lead each athlete to where they want to be... or go!
You guys made your supporters, the coaching staff, and the club very proud with how you all carried yourselves this past weekend at the swim meet - Way to go everyone!!!

The club would like to ensure that we provide our many thanks to the London Aquatic Club (LAC) and all of the volunteer officials for helping to run such an excellent competition for our swimmers this past weekend!
