2026 Western Regionals Short Course Championship Swim Meet Review

This past weekend in London Alizée, Beatrice, and Seamus were racing against some of the best swimmers from across all of Southwestern Ontario at the 2026 Western Regional Short Course Championships.

Throughout the swim meet this past weekend all three swimmers had some positive results with multiple best times, top 8 performances, and some wonderful efforts across the board!

Seamus put down some respective prelim swims as he prepares to compete at the upcoming Ontario Age Group Championships and refine his skills... Alizee had some big personal best times as well as strong showings across all 6 of her swims after just qualifying for Regionals... And coming off of being really sick during the week leading into the swim meet (which unfortunately caused Beatrice to miss her 1st day of the competition) Beatrice was able to not only compete in 2 of her 3 racing days, but achieve multiple best times, had two top 8 finishes, and on her very final race of the swim meet (the 200m backstroke) Beatrice almost raced her way onto the podium.

Congratulations Alizée, Beatrice, and Seamus on your respective performances this past weekend!

Burlington Masters Swim Meet Review

8 of our master’s swimmers’ dove into the water this past weekend in Burlington to race at the 4th masters swim meet of the season within the Swim Ontario Swim Series.

Throughout the swim meet the club had many positives to highlight. Every single masters swimmer placed in the top 8 of their respective age categories more then once individually (Special mention goes out to David Spence who won all of his races that he competed in - Congratulations David on your performances!), three different members took down club records, and a couple of member returned to racing in the pool for let's say the first time in awhile. However, the most important part of the swim meet was the positive experiences that everyone had from getting to be around their supportive teammates, peers, or the ability to catch up with old friends or make new ones :)

After the swim meet was all over and the final whistle blew, everyone raced their hearts out, had many laughs, inspired those around them, and made more special memories that will last a lot longer than the races ever do to reminisce about for years to come. Wonderful job everyone and we look forward to having more members join in at future swim meets left on the back half of the 2025-2026 calendar :)

The club would like to ensure that we provide our many thanks to the London Aquatic Club, Burlington Masters Swim Club, and all of the other volunteer officials for helping to run these excellent swim meets this past weekend!

And for our masters’ swimmers another excellent event in Etobicoke on Sunday, March 9th named the Swim For Heart where everyone will only be racing the 1500m long course and all money raised from the event will be donated to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Good luck to all of our age group as well as our masters’ swimmers who will be racing in a couple weeks time from now!!! Again, we know that all of you will do a wonderful job of representing the club, will make us all very proud with the performances that you throw down in the pool, and hope that you keep your training up leading into your respective competitions :)

Keep up the wonderful work everyone both in and out of the pool
