Muskoka Minis  *NEW GROUP* Ages 4-6 (1x per week) 
Muskoka Minis is MUSAC's youngest pre-competitive group meant for little ones still learning to swim. They will focus on body position, floats and kick.  They will learn all 4 competitive strokes, and build fundamental competitive swimming skills through fun and games.  They will gain confidence in the water, a bundle of new friends, and valuable life skills.  
Swimmers must be able to swim from a jump back to the side of the pool.

Minnows   Ages 7-9 (1x per week)
Minnows is MUSAC’s pre-competitive group meant for   beginners who love to swim. They learn all 4 competitive strokes and build concrete fundamental competitive swimming skills through fun and games. They will gain confidence in the water, a bundle of new friends, and valuable life skills.  
Swimmers must be able to swim 10m unassisted.

Sharks   Ages 7-12 (2x per week)
Sharks is MUSAC’s youngest competitive group meant for ambitious   beginners who love to swim and want to start to compete. They continue to develop all 4 competitive strokes and build concrete fundamental competitive swimming skills through fun and games. They can compete in all 3 in-house time trials in Bracebridge and attend 3 development level meets during the season. They will gain confidence in the water, a bundle of new friends, and valuable life skills.  Swimmers must be registered as competitive.

Development   Ages 7-12 (3x per week)
MUSAC’s  D evelopment program includes beginners and younger experienced competitive athletes. It is a more competitively focused group where swimmers learn to apply basic technical correction to each stroke and fundamental competitive swimming skills. These athletes are introduced to the different aspects of racing and training, including controlling their speed and effort. They can compete in all 3 in-house time trials, 3 development meets, and select travel meets (depending on speed and ability). They will gain a love for racing, an understanding of sportsmanship, a bundle of new friends, and valuable life skills. Swimmers must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke for a minimum of 25m.

Advanced   Ages 9-18  (4x per week)
Advanced includes both younger, experienced competitive swimmers and older, less-committed, experienced competitive swimmers. Swimmers learn more advanced technical correction in all 4 strokes, under waters, starts, breakouts, and turns. Advanced swimmers are expected, but not required, to compete throughout the season at age and skill appropriate competitions. These swimmers will begin to learn to train and race at a higher level. This will include much higher volume and intensity during practice while remaining focused on technique, discipline, and fundamentals. They will gain an understanding of the importance of commitment, goal setting, work ethic, sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, perseverance, and self-discipline. Our focus is not only the development of the athlete, but the development of the whole person on and off the pool deck.  Swimmers in this group must have competitive swimming experience.

Junior Provincial   Ages 10-18  (5-6x per week)

The Junior Provincial group includes highly committed athletes that compete or are close to competing at the provincial level. Swimmers in this group must have a Festival “C” Standard in at least one event. Swimmers are expected, but not required, to maintain at least 80% attendance based on the practice schedule below. Swimmers will fine tune each stroke, under waters, starts, turns, and breakouts through specific technical correction and video review. They will receive regular one-to-one feedback with the Head Coach. Junior Provincial swimmers are required to compete throughout the season at age and skill appropriate competitions. They train more frequently, with a higher volume and level of intensity. They are expected to exhibit positivity, commitment, punctuality, sportsmanship, and a good work ethic. They will gain an understanding of the importance of goal setting, leadership, citizenship, resilience, and perseverance. Our focus is not only the development of the athlete, but the development of the whole person, both on and off the pool deck.

Senior Elite   Ages 13-18+ (7-8x per week)
Senior Elite is our highest-level training group centered around high-performance. It includes fully committed athletes that compete, or are close to competing at the provincial level. Swimmers in this group must have, or be close to an OYJC Standard in at least one event. Swimmers are required to maintain at least 85% attendance based on the practice schedule below. Swimmers will fine tune each stroke, under waters, starts, turns, and breakouts through specific technical correction and video review. They will receive regular one-to-one feedback with the Head Coach. Senior swimmers are required to compete throughout the season at age and skill appropriate competitions. They train more frequently, with a higher volume and level of intensity. They are expected to exhibit positivity, commitment, punctuality, sportsmanship, leadership, and a good work ethic. They will gain an understanding of the importance of goal setting, citizenship, resilience, and perseverance. Our focus is not only the development of the athlete, but the development of the whole person, both on and off the pool deck.

Masters Swimming is a blend of fitness and competitive swimming for adults 19 years of age and over. The regular structured workouts use techniques of interval training in an atmosphere of fun, fitness, friendship, and participation.
