Coaching Staff

Gord Sprung Head Coach

Gord is OSHAC’s Head Coach. He coaches the Senior team and runs all of the dryland training sessions. Head Coach Gord began his swimming career as a member of the Region of Waterloo Swim Club and went on to represent the Axemen at Acadia University in Nova Scotia. It was there that he began his coaching career working with the Axemen in his final year as well as taking on the role of head coach of the local swim team the Wolfville Tritons.

Gord has been with OSHAC since 1994, he started off as the Head Age Group Coach, and 4 years later he was promoted to Head Coach. As Head Coach, he has seen the club produce several provincial and youth national champions. He has also coached a number of athletes who have gone on to be selected to several Provincial and National teams including the Ontario Canada Games Team and the Junior Pan Pacific Team.

Coach Gord is a former National level swimmer with over 16 years of experience as an athlete and now more than 25 years of experience as a coach, his passion for helping athletes reach their potential remains as strong as ever.

Jack Kelly Head Age Group Coach, AG1 & AG2

Jack is a former OSHAC member who worked his way through the program and graduated as a member of our Senior program. He is currently the Club record holder in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke. He finished his time with OSHAC as an Eastern Canadian Championship finalist narrowly missing the qualification standard for Senior Nationals in the 50 Breaststroke.

Jack has spent the last 3 years swimming on Scholarship at Clarkson University in Potsdam New York studying Computer Engineering.

Jack began coaching with us and spent 3 years as a Dolphin Coach. He continued his coaching at Clarkson with their young competitive swimmers.

Jack is extremely excited to get started as the new Head Age Group Coach. He will bring all his years of experience as a swimmer and a coach much like Head Coach Gord did back in 1994 when he began his career as a coach in the same position right here in Oshawa.

Chanelle Broersma Varsity and Masters Coach

Chanelle is a former OSHAC swimmer who graduated from the Varsity group in 2023. She has been a Dolphin Coach from past 2 years.

Chanelle is excited to continue coaching with OSHAC as she pursues her Photography at Durham College.

Ryley Bell AG3 Coach

OSHAC is thrilled to announce the return of one of our incredible competitive swim coaches to the OSHAC family! Coach Ryley Bell brings passion, experience, and deep commitment to helping our swimmers reach their full potential- both in and out of the pool!

Ryley first joined the club when she was 6 years old as a swimmer and has been associated with OSHAC for the past 17 years. For the past 8 years Ryley has been coaching swimmers of all age groups and levels.

Few words from coach Ryley :- What I love most about coaching is watching athletes progress—not just in stroke technique or dropping times, but in building the confidence to dive in and attack every race with everything they’ve got.

Frances Lee Dolphin Coach

We are excited to announce that Frannie Lee has joined OSHAC as our new Dolphin Coordinator!

Frannie brings a strong background in swim development, and a passion for helping young swimmers build confidence and skills in the pool! Frannie’s energy, experience, and commitment to nurturing swimmers at the foundational level make her a fantastic addition to our club!

Frannie started swimming with OSHAC in the Dolphin program when she was 8, and has been swimming with the club since. For the past 2 years Frannie has been coaching Dolphin groups.

Few words from Frannie :- Dolphin is a fantastic program for new swimmers, and it helped develop my passion for the sport and I can’t wait for this season to start. I can’t wait to see all of the new, and returning swimmers and to watch them grow and develop within the program.
