Olivier Renaud - Head Coach

Olivier Renaud is from Shawinigan, Québec. He studied Intervention Sportive (B. Sc.) at Université Laval in Quebec City. He worked for 4 years with Rouge et Or Natation (age group and varsity) and Rouge et Or Triathlon (varsity, national and international level). In his 3 years as the Head Age Group Coach of the Gatineau Swim Club, he placed multiple athletes on provincial teams, leading them to numerous national age group medals and provincial records. Coach Olivier has been named 6 times as a coach of age group provincial teams in Quebec and was named national coach of the year in the Gatineau area in 2016. He has a passion for Open Water swimming and was coach on multiple World Cups in the last 3 years.

Tom Lawrie

Tom was a nationally qualified competitive swimmer and attended La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA where he was awarded the Most Outstanding Performer – Men’s Swimming in 2010.

Tom, a NCCP Level 1 certified coach, will be guiding our Senior swimmers to continuing swimmer success.

Steven Taylor

A former national age group and University Varsity swimmer and coach, Steven Taylor brings a wide variety of experience and passion for the sport to Whitby Swimming.  Coach Taylor began his coaching career while a swimmer at Brock University, where he supported those in their introductory program all the way up to his fellow Varsity teammates. Growing up the Durham Region, Coach Taylor has swam in many of the same pools and competitions that his swimmers will find themselves in over the course of the swimming season. As a coach his goal is to have his swimmers excited to come to practice, and he works to achieve this by creating a fun and inclusive environment that engages and challenges his athletes. 

Kevin Roberton

Groups: Senior 3, Junior 3, Development 1, Development 2

From Whitby, Kevin is a former Age Group National level swimmer and attended NJIT in Newark, NJ for university. Kevin started swimming in the pre-competitive group at Whitby when he was seven years old and progressed through the program. He won his first provincial medals and qualified for his first age-group national level competition while competing for the club, with the club’s program providing a strong foundation for the rest of his swimming career. The 2023 season is Kevin’s first year of coaching, and he brings 14 years of hands-on swimming experience to the role. He is very excited to be a part of the team again and understands well the positive impact a good coach can have on swimmers. Kevin looks forward to providing the same experience for his athletes as they progress throughout the season.

Elly Sirois

Groups: Development 3

Formerly a competitive swimmer, and currently a master swimmer with the club, Elly has been involved with Whitby Swimming for eight seasons. Elly started coaching in late 2021, starting off as a pre-competitive coach, before eventually becoming the lead coach for Development 3. She’s a senior in high school, hoping to create a lifelong love of swimming for her swimmers. Elly understands the importance of providing an encouraging team environment. She works towards building confidence in her swimmers and teaching them fundamental swimming skills.

 

Tisiane Wembou

A former competitive swimmer for the club, Coach T brings a wealth of experience and a deep love for the   sport to the Whitby Swimming team. Coach T initiated her coaching journey in 2021, starting by coaching   swimmers in the pre-competitive program before taking on the role of D4's lead coach. This is now her 6th season involved with the club. Currently a senior in high school, Tisiane is savoring her final moments on the pool deck. Her coaching objective is to establish a welcoming and confidence-building environment for her swimmers.
