Last meet of the summer - Hosted by CAST

We are hosting the last meet of the summer on Aug. 2nd and 3rd at Helix HS. This is an all ages - no time standard meet, which means all swimmers at all levels are eligible.

We strongly encourage all swimmers (except maybe a select few that have 6 full events at the AGC meet this weekend- see me if this is you) to enter and swim in this meet. Many swimmers and families pass up on a lot of meets. This is one we definitely want you to swim if you're available, as it is the last meet of the summer. Other than a intersquad "just for fun" meet in late August, this will be the last meet until late September.

Competing in meets is an important growth experience for swimmers. It not only helps the swimmers get a snapshot of "where they are at", but also gives the coaches a lot of insight into what each swimmer needs for improvement - much more so than when they are swimming a practice. In addition, the bonding between swimmers that happens at meets is much stronger than at practice.

Please take the time to sign up now. The deadline to sign up is midnight Tuesday. Log into your CAST account and scroll down on the home page - find the CAST meet - hit the "edit commit" button - then scroll to the bottom of the subsequent page and commit. You can also add notes like, "has to leave by noon on Saturday"  or "Susie wants to do the 50 fly". Session 1 is Saturday and Session 2 is Sunday. We encourage you to swim both days. The meet should be fairly short.

AGC (Age Group Championships- I still call it JO's) is this Thursday - Sunday

Prelims are Thursday and Friday, and Finals are Saturday and Sunday. On Thur and Fri the 12&U's swim first with the 13&O's swimming in the afternoon. On Saturday and Sunday finals begin at 10:00 AM and should end about 2:30PM each day.

Some events, like the 11-12 400 free and 400 IM and 200's of Fly, Back, and Breast, are timed finals(as well as older distance events). Other events, like all 10-U events and the 13&O 400 Free - the top 8 make finals, while most other events have top 16 for finals. For a full picture of which events are which, check out the format here.

Warmup times:

Thur and Fri: 12&U's -  7:10 AM (except Kalea 10:00 am ea day);   13& O's 1:00 PM (except Moses 2:30 ea day)

Sat and Sun: all finalists 9:00 AM - unless told otherwise

Relays: I tried to put together relays for the 10&U girls - but too many were on vacation, so there will be no 10-U relays. 11-12 relays will be at the end of prelims on Thursday and Friday. There are no older relays.

There will be no snack bar available, so please bring food, healthy munchies. and plenty of fluids.
