Hi
I am Heather. I graduated from Yuma high school in Yuma, CO. Cheerleading has been a huge part of my life. It started in 8th grade then moving on to all 4 years of high school varsity team. I went on to cheer in college in Wyoming. During college I got the opportunity to volunteer my time helping a youth division cheer team. Teaching girls basic tumbling and cheer. After college my time with cheer was spent volunteering for my old coach for dance and cheer clinics as well as helping little girls with private lessons for tumbling and cheer. I have spent the last year coaching the silver Jagz team as well as helping with open gyms at Joyful Journeys. I enjoy teaching and coaching the young girls to give them a positive outlook in an amazing atmosphere. Cheer has always been a big passion of mine and I am so grateful to share my love for a sport I really enjoy.

Hello! My name is Jen and I am thrilled to begin teaching dance classes at Joyful Journey’s. I come from the small town of Ashland, Nebraska but relocated to the Denver area this past year. I began dancing at the age of three and studied ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, and modern. Growing up, I was a member of my studio’s competition team traveling to local and regional events as well as a member of my high school dance team. For five years I performed with the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company during their annual production of “The Nutcracker”. Throughout college at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln I taught dance at First Position Dance Studio (my hometown studio) and the Lincoln YWCA En Pointe Dance Academy. For seven years I was the Ashland-Greenwood High School Dance Team coach where I led the school to compete and place in the Nebraska State Dance Team Competition. I also continued my learning through UNL’s dance program where I attended the American College Dance Festival earning a spot to perform in a selected piece. Upon graduating with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Dance, I took over as owner of First Position Dance Studio. I directed the studio for the past ten years prior to moving here! I love every minute I spend passing on my love of dance to others! I am beyond excited to begin this new journey here and give all students an opportunity to develop their passion for dance!
