PST Team Tent Policy

Erica Wammock

PST Families,

As we look forward to our next meet and this season, we wanted to share some information that is helpful to parents and for our swimmers.

First, we are SO grateful that we have wonderful, engaged, and supportive parents! This helps us as we work with your swimmers and reminds them that they are surrounded by both parents and coaches who believe in them. Thank you for helping us and cheering on our swimmers – even the ones you don’t know!

Second, please have your swimmers sit under the team tent. Because we live in South Florida and swim outside, it is beneficial for the swimmers to sit under our team tent as this provides them with shade and some relief from the heat. For them to perform at their best level, staying out of the sun as much as possible is vital.

Third, this also gives them a great opportunity to get to know their teammates! I’m sure you all remember what it was like to be a kid/teenager, and while we loved our parents a lot, we also craved some time away from them (I know I did! Sorry mom). We recommend that the swimmers sit under the team tents with teammates only.

Finally, we know that it is hot and that parents want to stay out of the sun as well! Some facilities allow parents to bring their own tents. If you would like to bring a tent for yourselves or connect with other parents and bring one, you would simply need to reach out to the facility to see if there are any facility guidelines for tents. Please do NOT sit under the team tents – they are for swimmers only.

We are so excited to get this season going and to see what your children can accomplish, and we are incredibly proud of all of them. Thank you all again for all you do for your swimmers, for us coaches, and for the team.

Go PST!
