Division 2 Meet Recap
Plantation Swim Team proved to be one of the strongest and deepest teams in the Florida Gold Coast at the Division II Championships, March 13-15 at the North County Aquatics Complex in Jupiter, Florida.
Every swimmer who competed achieved at least two personal best times, with many swimmers placing in the Top 10. Leading the field in finals appearances with five each, were Alfred Maria, Krissa Robinson and Veronica Riviere. Alfred dipped under the Junior Olympic standard in the 50 Breast (38.55), while Krissa swam to two new cuts in the 200 IM (2:25.18) and 200 Breast (2:45.34). Veronica proved her self to be up to the challenge of the 1650 Free, placing second overall in the event. She also placed third in the 200 Back and 200 Breast. Making finals in four events were Meagan Abad and Dania Banks. Meagan swam under the JO cut in the 200 Back (2:30.98), and placed second in the 50 Fly.
Dania Banks achieved two new JO standards in the 100 Free (58.67) and 200 Breast (2:44.50), in which she took first place. Those swims as well as a seven second drop in the 200 Free earned Dania Co-13 & Over Swimmer of the Meet honors. Sharing the title was Beth Beals, who dropped a total of 25 seconds in her six swims, including an eight second drop in her 200 Back. Taking the 12 & Under Swimmer of the Meet crown was Dylan Weiss. Dylan secured his position with his final swim of the meet, the 500 Free, taking a whopping 24 seconds off his previous personal best.
