USA Swimming Adopts Fina Suit List

As many of you know, there has been alot of discusion going back and forth about the current "super suit" controversy. On one side, you have the group who thinks the new suits are some kind of cheating (www.swimnews.com) and we should go back a few years. On the other side, we have people who think that technological advancement in the sport is a good thing and will bring more exitement to non-olympic competitions and are a natural evoloution of the competitive swim suit as long as everyone has the same chance to get a suit. ( See Auburn Co-Head Coach Brett Hawke)

FINA (the international governing body for all aquatic sports) tested the suits to make sure that they were within thier rules and came up with a list of 198 suits that will be allowed in competition. While not totaly satisfied with the findings, USA Swimming has gotten on board with FINA. Click here to go to the aproved list of suits and a brief message from USA Swimming.
